Trapped Like A Scarecrow

First off just a quick update. Yes I know blogs have been few and far between for a while now, and I am sorry. Seizures are still happening but at this point what else is new. I am making headway on getting into U.C. Davis Hospital and at the same time I am making headway towards enrollment into Multnomah University. But enough about me, I really would like to share with you another insight of life down my yellow brick road!

While Dorothy was first travelling down the yellow brick road she came to a cross road and was not sure of which way to go. From off screen we can here someone directing her that some people prefer to go towards the left, some prefer the right, but some people do go both ways. She then realizes that these words are being spoken by none other than a scarecrow. Now obviously she is very shocked at this discovery, seeing as scarecrows in Kansas did not speak. They introduce themselves and then Dorothy comes to learn that The Scarecrow is stuck on a pole with no way of getting down. Dorothy then comes to his rescue by removing the nail and letting him down. For the first time ever he is free.

I think that it is so similar to what God the Father did for us. The Bible says in Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” We as sinners all deserve to die for our sins. Just imagine, we all deserve to be beaten then tied and nailed to a cross, left to die. But just before the first nail would have been placed in our hand Jesus came and said to us “I will help you down. I will take your place.” Just as Dorothy helped The Scarecrow down from his pole, Jesus came to help us gain eternal life.

Just the thought of that always sends chills down my spine. When God sent his son Jesus to die for our sins he freed us from the slavery of sin. Romans 6:14 says “Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.” That verse is more than just words. It is a decree that through acceptance of Jesus Christ we are promised that we will no longer have to live under the oppression of sin, but instead we get to live under the freedom of God’s grace. Now even though I live in the United States of America, a land built on freedom, I don’t know of any government here on earth that can offer the freedom that God can.

This promise is available to anyone who is willing to accept it. That is probably the most amazing thing about God’s gift to us. We just have to take it and accept it.

Dorothy Helped Free The Scarecrow. Will You Let God Free You?

Are you ready to make that decision?

All you have to do is pray a prayer of forgiveness, repent of your sinful lifestyle, and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.

If you are not sure what to say you can follow the prayer below.

“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer today I would love to know. Send me an e-mail at jacobharper89@hotmail.com Just put in the subject Escaped Form Oz.

Dear Lord,

Wow, seeing you work is amazing! Seeing people come to accept Christ is the best gift I could have ever been given. I would go through a million seizures if I was able to continue to see the seeds that have been planted continue to grow. Dear Lord, I lift up Eric to you. I love this boy so much! Please wrap your arms around him and just be  with him as he goes through the struggles life has presented him. Dear Lord, I just want to say thank you so much for the friends you have placed in my life. I consider Josh, David, Zach, James, Austin P, Nick, and Stephen to be my closest friends brothers. Lord, I lift up to you our talent show fundraiser to you. Bless it Lord, have people come to the event. Have the money that will be raised be used to further your kingdom. Dear Lord, I thank you for LaDawn. She is such an amazing woman. Be with her, keep her strong. Please guide me in the direction that you feel I need to go. Wrap your arms around Nova and our marriage. These times of trials only make us stronger.

Yours in Christ
